What are the major differences between Bazi (Four Pillars) and ZWDS (Zi Wei Dou Shu: Purple Star Astrology aka Emperor Star Astrology)?
If you are familiar with Chinese Metaphysics, you would have heard of these two different school’s of thought in analyzing an individual’s life destiny. These two schools do offer some similarities, but yet there are some differences as well.
Bazi (Four Pillars) is pretty well known in the marketplace, plenty of Bazi practitioners or consultants, and commonly available to learn in many countries. As a result, common people would learn Bazi as it is commonly known and available. Some enthusiasts of Chinese Metaphysics may learn both Bazi and ZWDS, while others may choose to specialized in either one, thereby developing deeper practical skills and experiences over time. Both schools of thought offers some similarities by utilizing the Earthly Branches, and Heavenly Stems in generating a blueprint of a destiny chart. The basic principle is to forecast, analyze, and predict on a person’s life and destiny.
However, the difference is that Bazi is perceived to be easier to learn initially, but would encounter bottlenecks when it comes to detail specifics of events like ZWDS can. Therefore, many Bazi learners will eventually be confused by the difficulties of analysis into detailed events. Furthermore, Bazi can offer general insights into a person’s destiny without the hour of birth pillar, but ZWDS requires the date and the time of birth.
On the other hand, ZWDS is not commonly known, appears to be difficult to learn, requiring one to understand the principles, memorizing some formulae, but is much easier to grasp the underlying formulation with practice. Bazi is capable to offer a broader general view of circumstances, whereas ZWDS is capable to fine-tuning into specifics of the circumstance, and why it occurred (allowing highly detailed specifics into the minutes of occurrence to events). Furthermore, the Flying Star ZWDS secrets lies in the Palatial Transformation, many other underlying principles and frameworks, and layers to decode destiny.
Another difference is that Bazi utilizes the same fundamentals in other broad Chinese Metaphysics subjects, but in ZWDS these other fundamentals are lightly introduced. The reason is that ZWDS is unique in itself, encompassing its own fundamentals, formulae, principles, and conceptual framework in deciphering life destiny.
However, there is something to ponder upon here. For thousands of years Si Hua Flying Star ZWDS (Purple Star Astrology aka Emperor Star Astrology) is only kept secretive, and selfishly by the Imperial Astronomers to be used exclusively only by the ancient Chinese Emperors in forecasting destiny, whereas Bazi is commonly available as a destiny tool to the commoners in ancient Chinese communities for thousands of years. Why do you think it is so?
At the end of it all, these two school’s of thought offers some really good knowledge, and skills to be acquired in life destiny analysis. Whichever life destiny system you choose to delve deeper into is your choice, and the availability to learn in your location. There are plenty of articles on the web outlining the differences between Bazi and ZWDS.
There is no need to debate which is the ‘cream of the crop’ system in life destiny analysis. Research, practice, and judge it by yourself. You own it to yourself to explore the opportunities and possibilities that this world has to offer. Isn’t life interesting?
Cause and Effect is nothing new in Zi Wei Dou Shu. It is similar to the notion of “you reap what you sow”, but not exactly.
However, in Zi Wei Dou Shu life destiny chart of an individual, the ’cause’ may not be planted by him or her, but the effect can take place according to destiny. Regardless of the situation of ‘effect’, planting good causes is always the best thing to do in life.
When decoding a destiny chart, When Hua Lu is shown, Hua Ji must be present as well. In Zi Wei Dou Shu, this is the ’cause and effect’ or the ‘start and end’ of that signal and event. Therefore, Hua Lu and Hua Ji is a combination, and both must be analyzed together. Positive or negative, the impact differs from what is being analyzed.
For example, if a destiny chart reveals that from Decade Wealth Hua Lu is flown into Tai Yang at the Wealth Palace, and Hua Ji is flown into Tian Tong in Friends clashing Siblings. This could be decoded as Decade Wealth is on the increase, good money flow, and abundance, but money is also lost due to entertainment, leisure activities, and enjoyment with perhaps, Friends, and therefore savings decreases. This combination of Hua Lu and Hua Ji is negative. Money comes, and money goes since the initiation of Hua Lu is positive to the palace, but Hua Ji to external palace, therefore, is a bad signal. It is recommended to not engage in business ventures whereby business will fail, or lost money due to Tian Tong. The quick analysis above is only one possible outcome. How about you? What seeds have you planted?
*Distance yourself from of the cause of clutter, noise, indifference, resentment, negativity, entitlement, arrogance, and ego
*A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extra-ordinary results.
Zi Wei Dou Shu is a powerful tool used to analyze life events, and life destiny. It is a profound destiny analysis tool, and has been practiced for thousands of years where it is shaped, reformed, and renewed.
However, there are some conceptual or underlying philosophical challenges that one needs to know when decoding a Zi Wei Dou Shu destiny chart.
First off, the destiny chart will indicate fated events, and/or signals to possible events. These events usually happens, and sometimes may happen but in a different circumstance. You may have encountered two person with the same destiny chart that results in two different outcomes but with close similarities. The positive or negative signal reveals will happen but the scope of impact could be different. It is circumstantial!
For example, if there is an indication of a divorce or a separation, native A could be separated with the partner due to constant work travel or work related project and needs to be physically away from home for months or years. When done, native A’s partner returned and the separation has been successfully concluded. No divorce but a separation for native A. However, even without a divorce, but a separation, the relationship could still be jeopardized until the timing has concluded.
On the other hand, native B stayed together with the partner and there were no plans of separation [ie. living separately]. When the separation/divorce signal reveals at a certain year, and nothing was done to avoid the separation, a divorce is highly likely, and the probability is almost certain. However, taking it one step further, the separation event for native A is either a divorce, or probably separated [in the affairs of the heart], but not physically or legally.
There are other factors to consider as well. These include factors such as the environmental factors, societal norms, family/people influences, and the environmental science [Feng Shui]. In any case, if native B is not divorced at that time, native B’s would have lost the love and romance factor, but hanging on due to other pressures and influences mentioned above.
The Lesson here is that certainties and uncertainties could happen. Although events are classified as a ‘set-in-stone’ that must happen, there is a window of freewill and external influences, that could alter the event, but slightly.
As a practitioner in Zi Wei Dou Shu, it is imperative to not conclude certainty of a signal or a revelation of the codes in the chart. The best practice is to suggest a possibility of occurrences, and not a definite conclusion, coupled with some guidance to minimize the negative events [if you are experienced in the skill of Zi Wei Dou Shu]. ‘Divorce’ is a taboo word that could result in anxiety, psychological imbalances, depression, etc. Care must be taken to suggest negative signals. Never be one hundred percent certain, and leave a window of uncertainties when deciphering the revelation of signals and codes.
* Not everyone is meant to be in your future forever. Some people are just passing through to teach you lessons in life;
* All married couples tend to fight over the same five things: money, sex, work, parenting, and household;
* Important thing to remember: You can’t please everyone.
Which of these star[s] are located in the destiny chart of your Self/Life Palace? Here is a brief illustration of the characteristics of the star, meaning the character, personality, and behavior of the person in question exemplifies the qualities of that star.
Over the several years of practiced, most clients would never ask questions about their health issues. Attaining good health is inevitable in order to achieve the ‘things‘ that an individual needs in life. The question is : How do you avoid serious health illnesses and possibly death? Oops…. well… death is unavoidable.
Everything in life is impermanent, and so is health or living. However, from a wise and wisdom thought, ‘acceptance‘ of the fact is important. In Zi Wei Dou Shu, remedies to health issues can be lessen, but is not avoidable in full. Medical attention must be sought out. Humans are only a little creature living under the Universe, while clinging onto the surface of the earth, and human’s cannot win over destiny.
Below is a case of an individual whom health shows a prominent ‘red flag’ that has led to death.
Decade Health Hua Ji to Ju Men clash Original Birth Health. Death occurred on April 20 2015 in the lunar month of March. In this case, Decade Health clash Original Health with Ju Men, in essence, was the result of a cancerous disease that is difficult to overcome. It is a fated event due to Hua Ji. Similarly, if Decade Health clash Original/Birth Self Palace with Ju Men, timing could be lengthened, but death is inevitable.
Although Hua Ke has been known as a possible mitigation method, in cases of health due to a cancerous star, it is difficult to mitigate. Death is inevitable in this case. The probable fix is to seek medical attention at the first stage of cancer detection, and fixed it then. If the first stage of chemo is prolonged, and not done completely, the cancerous cells will continue to grow rapidly and surely, thus crippling the internal organs over time. At this later stage, current medical technology would be difficult to overcome.
The lesson here is to learn to accept, and to be prepared for any outcome of events that is beyond our control. Furthermore, it is always a good idea to be simple, be kind to all living things, and be at peace in your heart to the surroundings around you. You can choose to leave a legacy, and how wonderful would it be if the legacy last a long time there after.
As a practitioner, it is best to avoid concluding a death signal, and the best practice is to suggest for immediate medical attention. The Universe has the final verdict, anyway!
* Today will never come again. Be a blessing. Be a friend. Encourage someone. Take time to care. Let your words heal, and not wound;
* As time goes by, humans are becoming less and less empathetic. Today, we care about others 40% less than people in the 1990’s did.

In Zi Wei Dou Shu, the birth “Life Palace” relates to the character, personality, and the “group-type” of the individual. On the other hand, even if the “Ten-Years” luck cycle changes, the character or the personality of the person do not completely change. It may, however, change slightly but the pre-born characteristics do tagged on for life. There are five “group-types” as discussed in the “Winning Destiny with Zi Wei Dou Shu book”.
In Flying Star Zi Wei Dou Shu, the star(s) residing in the Life Palace offers an interesting code to decipher a person’s overall ‘pre-born’ characteristics. If you find someone lazy, and need to be pushed to do things, it is likely because of the star characteristics residing in his/her Life Palace. However, it does not mean that the person will not change. He/She may change slightly during the Ten Years Dynamic Chart Cycle, but the root of the character is still there.
To predict a person’s character, the combination of the Life, Mental and Travel palaces need to be deciphered.
- The Life Palace indicates the person’s overall character;
- The Mental Palace indicates the person’s inner (hidden) character/personality/behavior;
- The Travel Palace indicates the person’s outer character in social circumstances.
Therefore, by deciphering all these three palaces, we can usually understand a person character more closely than with just one palace.
* Introversion is strongly associated with creativity and intelligence – 75% of people with IQs over 160 are introverts;
* It is better to walk alone than with a crowd going in the wrong direction;
* People with awkward and weird personalities tend to make the best friends.
